Challenges for AI-enabled Cancer Diagnostics in Digital Pathology

  • idalab GmbH 68 Potsdamer Straße Berlin, BE, 10785 Deutschland (map)

Abstract

Dr. Ralf Banisch

Senior Data Scientist, Mindpeak

Cancer Diagnostics in histopathology today is still a largely manual and time-consuming task done by highly trained experts. Given that this is an image analysis problem and AI in the image domain is quite mature, many AI diagnostic assistant systems should be used in clinical routine, yet there are only very few - why is that so? This talk will look at the domain-specific challenges that arise when building such an AI system.
